Q. We have to wear safety shoes in our shipping/receiving area. Some of the truck drivers do not wear them, are we responsible?
A. Good question. There is more than one part of the Act that would come into play here. The act says that when exposed to the hazard of foot injury, protective equipment shall be worn. Do you have sign posted? Also, was peronal protective equipment offered by the employer? The list goes on. In any event, any person working in a shipping/receiving area or operating manual or powered lift equipment shall wear CSA approved safety shoes.
