"This course gives me a better understanding of awareness (circle of safety around machine) I now know what to look for. Been operating for 20 years and learned some new things today. Instructor was able to answer every question, very knowledgeable. Instructor skill was fantastic, used lots of examples and explained things very well."

Q. We were trained 3 years ago, why do we have to go through it again? People who drive cars don't require retraining.
A. Thank you for asking such an important question. When it comes to workplace safety, try to employ a different train of thought. In most cases, when an employee has to go for re-training, they take the position that "I already know how to use the equipment, I've never had an accident, why do I need to be re-trained?".

Instead of thinking re-training, please try to employ the train of thought that you will be attending a safety awareness session. All of us are guilty of becoming complacent when it comes to performing repetitive activities or tasks.

Our goal is to keep workers up to date with the laws, standards, and recommendations. At the same time, we like to remind people of the hazards associated with performing those tasks in the workplace. At the beginning of a program, it is evident that some employees would rather be doing something else with their time, by the end of the program, the employees are usually thankful that they attended.

Further, while performing practical evaluations, we might be able to bring to your attention any bad habits that you may have been practising. We may also be able to identify how good of an operator you are.

As for people driving cars????? I'm all for refresher training at 5 year intervals. Here's one example or task that would prove my theory. If you were to stand at a four way stop and monitor the activity....I think you might agree with refresher training.
