Q. What is the main ingredient of being a defensive driver?
A. Attitude is the main ingredient of defensive driving. To be a defensive driver you must adopt the attitude that you will always drive with genuine concern for your own safety and that of others. This requires that you: know the law and the rules of the road; always ensure that you are in a physical and emotional state that allows you to drive safely; always ensure that your vehicle is in safe operating condition; are always aware of what's going on around your vehicle; always maintain your composure (control and temper) no matter what the circumstances; and, are always prepared and willing to yield the right of way to other drivers.
