Instructor was able to answer every question, very knowledgeable. Instructor skill was fantastic, used lots of examples and explained things very well."

Q. Do you have any information as to the recommendations for training with regards to Scissor Lifts/Aerial Work Platforms?
A. Training

The practical training shall be conducted in the operator’s work area for each type of scissor lift they will be required to operate. The employee must successfully complete a written examination and practical training in accordance with the criteria of the qualified instructor. Additional testing may be requested at the discretion of the Department Supervisor, or at the request of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

There will be a formal evaluation (practical) for all certified operators every 18 months and training every 3 years. Refresher training will be provided before 3 years has elapsed, if:
• The operator has been observed to operate the vehicle in an unsafe manner;
• The operator has been involved in an accident or near miss incident;
• The operator has received an evaluation that shows they are not operating the vehicle safely;
• A change in job requires use of a different type of elevating lift platform; or
• A condition in the workplace changes in a manner that could affect safe operation of the elevating lift platforms.
